Call for CVs – Tanzania Agriculture Project  

Job Description

Abt Associates, a global leader in research and implementing technical programs in the fields of economic growth, international health, social and environmental policy, and climate change, seeks highly qualified candidates for an anticipated USAID-funded agriculture project in Tanzania.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

A university degree in agriculture, business administration, economics, communications, health and behavioral or social sciences or a related field is required.

A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in one or more of the relevant technical areas listed below. USAID experience is highly preferred.

Deputy Chief of Party – Technical will provide strategic leadership, management, and technical direction in advancing horticulture market systems strengthening and will support the project team, and counterparts in the implementation of activities. The DCOP will provide managerial and technical support to the COP, assisting in areas including work planning, performance management, and strategic communications.

Deputy Chief of Party – Operations is responsible for the efficient and effective management of all aspects of project operations. He or she will provide operational and logistical leadership for functions including human resources, finance, procurement, and subcontracts.

Director, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning is responsible for designing and managing monitoring, evaluation, learning and knowledge management systems. He or she will undertake iterative learning and adaptation, including the use of real-time information and analysis to continuously assess progress and adjust interventions or approaches as necessary, including engagement with value chain actors and with development partners to learn about what is working across the system.

Lead, Agricultural Policy and Enabling Environment will work to advance a series of horticulture policy and regulatory activities in collaboration with donors and stakeholders. He/she will advance activities which engage local governments, private sector, farmer organizations, and key stakeholders to improve the enabling environment and address policy bottlenecks to market systems development.

Lead, Gender Inclusion will ensure that project interventions address barriers faced by and expand opportunities for women. He/she will ensure incorporation of gender considerations into all activities and ensure interventions with horticulture sector actors are inclusive.
